CVPAA Concert Series

The Colville Valley Performing Arts Association is now selling season tickets for the 2007-2008 concert series, which features a variety of music to appeal to a range of musical tastes. This year, the emphasis is on fun, as well as virtuosity, and the season ticket price gives concert-goers seats at bargain prices.

The series kicks of on October 8 with Edgar Cruz, guitarist extraordinaire. Become entranced at the precision, speed and complexity with which his fingers strike the strings of his guitar to create a symphony of sound unusual to just one instrument. This performance promises to be enjoyed by all ages. On November 11, the Juggernaut Jug Band will perform. The Juggernauts bring to the stage a sense of fun and whimsy to their audience. They treat you to mind-blowing musicianship, incredible harmonies and their zany sense of humor! Fun for all ages!

On February 17, the Jeni Fleming Acoustic Trio will perform. With a powerful blend of voice, guitar, and double bass, they create an enchanting mix of classical and jazz dichotomies in one breath, breezy folk tunes with a modern twist, and vibrant original pop in another, winning the hearts of everyone that have enjoyed their performances.

On April 13, Sourdough Slim, a one-man Western extravaganza will present his unique musical variety act, with his talents on accordion, guitar, harmonica and singing. Fun for all ages!

All performances are held on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. at the Colville High School Auditorium. While tickets are always available at the door, season tickets offer a real savings. Until September 15, they cost on $50 for adults and $20 for students eighteen or younger. Adult season tickets go up to $55 after September 15, still a real bargain. Checks can be mailed to the Colville Valley Performing Arts Association, P.O. Box 285, Colville, WA 99114.

The North Columbia Monthly provides news, views, humor and a calendar of events for an area that stretches from Nelson in British Columbia south to Spokane in Washington State and covers all points in between. A free (and free-thinking, progressive) magazine, The Monthly is available at several hundred spots throughout the region and now is also available on-line at www.ncmonthly.com. Published once a month since 1994, The Monthly is an independent magazine that often challenges contemporary wisdom by encouraging critical thinking about issues and attitudes in the region and beyond.

Featuring our one-of-a-kind "What's Happening" department, The Monthly provides the region's only all-inclusive, free listing of community events and is the first place many people check to find out about area arts, crafts, music, fairs, services and events of all kinds. Our free listing policy for the "What's Happening" department promotes diversity, cultural interaction, and the exchange of ideas and free expression. Also featured in the magazine are people, food, health, humor, and feature articles that keep readers coming back for more each month.
